About:
Amanda is a popular network backup and archiving software that protects multiple machines running various versions of Linux, Unix, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. It supports tapes, disks, optical media, and changers.

Release focus: Major feature enhancements

Changes:
'amverify' and 'amverifyrun' have been replaced with the more flexible 'amcheckdump'. 'amcryptsimple' and 'amgpgcrypt', encryption plugins based on GPG, have been added. 'amserverconfig' and 'amaddclient', initial Amanda configuration tools, have been added. There are speedups in 'amrecover find' and starting amrecover. The Device API has a pluggable interface to storage devices supporting tapes, vtapes, RAIT, and Amazon S3. New Perl modules link directly to Amanda to support writing Amanda applications in Perl.
